George Bower devoted 36 years to Manasquan High School athletics as a coach of golf and track and field. His golf program won six Shore Conference Championships, establishing MHS as a consistent powerhouse in the sport.

Perhaps Bower's greatest legacy is the athletes he developed. Among his track and field pupils was Barbara Friedrich, who went on to set a world record in the javelin and represent the United States at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. Coach Bower's impact reached the world stage through the athletes he inspired.
