George "Chip" Hirst
2009
George "Chip" Hirst was arguably the greatest pitcher in Manasquan High School history. A four-year letter winner for Coach Jack Hawkins, Hirst set the Shore Conference all-time career wins record with 33 victories — a mark that stood for 36 years. He anchored the Warriors' 1969 NJSIAA Central Jersey Group II Championship team, earned the 1970 Monmouth College Tournament MVP award, and was a 1970 Asbury Park Press 1st Team All-Shore selection. On the basketball court, he was equally dominant — earning the 1970 Frederick Lyman Abbott Basketball Award as MHS's most outstanding player. He went on to pitch at Erskine College, earning 1st Team All-District NAIA honors in 1972.

Patricia Barnaba
2009
Patricia Barnaba spent 37 years at Manasquan High School and left a legacy unlike any other. She founded the field hockey program in 1971 and coached it for 37 years, compiling 361 wins and 4 NJSIAA Championships. She also founded the softball program in 1975, winning 453 games and 3 state titles. She re-established the girls' basketball program after a 34-year hiatus and won 86 games. In total, Barnaba accumulated 900 career wins across three sports — and the MHS field hockey field was dedicated in her name. She was inducted into the NJSIAA Coaches' Hall of Fame in 2000.

Adolph "Red" Jansky
2009
Adolph "Red" Jansky was the consummate Manasquan athlete — a 10-letter winner in football, basketball, and baseball who was voted "Most Athletic" by his classmates three years running. He was the heart of the Warriors' 1939 NJSIAA and Shore Conference Championship football team, part of a squad that set a Shore Conference record with 21 consecutive victories. On the hardcourt, his team-captain leadership helped Manasquan win its first-ever Shore Conference Tournament basketball title in 1941. After graduating, he served three years in the United States Navy.

Maren Haus
2010
Maren Haus was one of the most decorated tennis players and student-athletes in Manasquan High School history. Over four varsity seasons (1995–98) she compiled 103 career victories, earned four consecutive First Team All-State and First Team All-Shore selections, and won the 1998 Asbury Park Press Player of the Year award. She graduated as class valedictorian. At Wake Forest University she earned four varsity letters and was named to the ACC 50th Anniversary Team. In 2003 she won the USTA Women's Singles National Open Championship.

Mike Mahady
2010
Mike Mahady produced arguably the greatest pitching season in Manasquan High School history. In 1986, he went 12-1 with 130 strikeouts in 86 innings and a 1.08 ERA, leading the Warriors to the NJSIAA Group 2 State Title, the Central Jersey Group 2 Title, and the number one ranking in New Jersey. He set or tied eight MHS pitching records that season, was named NY Daily News All-Star and 1st Team All-State, and was invited to play in the All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium. He was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 1986 and the New York Yankees in 1987. A 10-letter athlete, Mahady also earned 2nd Team All-Shore recognition as a football punter.

MHS Football Team
2012
The 1958 Manasquan football team went 9-0 under Coach Hal Manson, winning the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group III State Championship and Shore Conference Class C title. Their defense allowed only 18 points all season — the all-time Manasquan record — and recorded 7 shutouts, including 5 consecutive.

Donald K. Greer, Sr.
2012
Donald K. Greer Sr. earned All-State recognition in baseball at Manasquan High School, Class of 1948, before serving his country as a U.S. Navy Korean War veteran. He spent decades serving the community of Avon-by-the-Sea as a two-term fire chief and 47-year treasurer of the Fire Department Relief Association.

Jim Grasdorf
2015
Jim Grasdorf earned All State honors from the Associated Press in both Football (1962) and Basketball (1963) at Manasquan High School — one of the very few Warriors to achieve that distinction in two different sports. He also earned All Shore recognition in both sports from the Asbury Park Press.

Paul Richard
2015
Paul Richard was a dominant track and field athlete at Manasquan High School, setting school records in the Pole Vault, Low Hurdles, and Long Jump. He won championship titles at the Monmouth-Ocean, Shore Conference, and Central Jersey levels and placed 2nd at the NJ State Championships. He went on to serve as Pole Vault Coach at Rutgers University.

Erin Smith
2015
Erin Smith was the leading scorer in both Monmouth County and the Shore Conference in field hockey in both her junior and senior seasons at Manasquan, Class of 1996. She earned 1st Team All Group II All State honors both years, was named Shore Conference Player of the Year, and won the Jersey Shore Sports Hall of Fame High School Athlete of the Year award.

Girls Tennis Team
2016
The 1995 Manasquan Girls Tennis Team went a perfect 27-0, winning both the Shore Conference Championship and the New Jersey State Championship under coach Rod Ravaioli. The team was led by Maren Haus at 1st Singles and featured Megan Crotty, who would later earn her own Hall of Fame induction.

Dr. Patrick Buddle
2016
Dr. Patrick Buddle has served as Manasquan High School Football Team Physician since 1986 and as Medical Director of Rehabilitation at Jersey Shore University Medical Center since 1987. His decades of dedication to the Warriors and to his patients have been recognized with multiple awards, including the Physicians of the Year, the Physician Champion Award, and the Vic Kubu Foxhole Award.

James Dickson
2017
James Dickson was a standout quarterback and baseball player at Manasquan High School, Class of 1974. He earned NY Daily News All Star, 3rd Team All State, 1st Team All Shore, and 1st Team All Monmouth County recognition in football in 1973 before earning a four-year athletic scholarship to Southern Illinois University.

1969 Football Team
2017
The 1969 Manasquan Football Team went 8-0 under head coach Bud Neylan, winning the Shore Conference Class B Championship and outscoring opponents 206-84. Ranked as high as #3 in the Shore Conference mid-season, the Warriors finished the year ranked #64 in New Jersey and featured running back Lenny Warwick, who won the 1969 Peter Blocksom Roetzel Award.

Jack Hawkins
2009
Jack Hawkins was one of the most successful and beloved coaches in Manasquan history. As head football coach from 1968 to 1979, "The Hawk" compiled an 81-18-2 record — second all-time among MHS coaches — with 6 division titles, 3 undefeated seasons, and the 1969 NJSIAA CJ Group II State Championship. On the baseball diamond, his teams went 100-35, winning 4 division titles, the 1969 state championship, and 2 Monmouth County titles. He was inducted into the NJ Football Coaches' Hall of Fame in 1991, and in 1973 founded the "Be the Best You Are Baseball and Softball Clinic," now one of the largest baseball clinics in the United States.

Charles "Chuck" Ferrell
2009
Charles "Chuck" Ferrell was the greatest cross country runner in Manasquan High School history. During his junior and senior seasons (1974 and 1975), Ferrell never lost a Shore Conference race. He became the first man ever to win the Monmouth County Individual Meet in back-to-back years, and won the NJSIAA Group III State Individual Championship both seasons — setting a state course record of 15:17 in 1975. He also set the Shore Conference course record at 14:23.3 and placed 8th at the 1974 Meet of Champions. A three-time All-Shore selection by the Asbury Park Press, Ferrell earned seven varsity letters at MHS across cross country and track.

Coach Dick Johnson
2010
Coach Dick Johnson built the Manasquan girls' basketball program into a dynasty. In 25 seasons (1981-2003), he compiled a 475-179 record (.726 winning percentage), won 5 NJSIAA State Championships (1983, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1993), 2 Shore Conference Championships, and 14 division titles. He was named Asbury Park Press Coach of the Year in both 1987 and 1988, and Daily News Coach of the Year in 1987. He was inducted into the NJ State Coaches' Hall of Fame in 2003. He also coached JV soccer for boys and girls for 20 years.

Coach Hal Manson
2010
Coach Hal Manson served Manasquan High School for over a decade as both teacher and head football coach. Taking the helm in 1950 after serving as assistant under Granville Magee, he compiled a 67-36-2 record and led the Warriors to the 1958 Central Jersey Group III and Shore Conference Championships — the high point of his tenure. All but one of his seasons finished .500 or better. He was remembered by his players as much for his character and sincere interest in students as for his wins on the field.

Joseph "Dutch" Nichols
2010
Joseph "Dutch" Nichols was called "the best basketball player ever to play at MHS" by Lee Weisert. A four-letter man who scored 1,049 career points, he earned back-to-back All-Shore recognition from the Asbury Park Press (1953-54) and was a member of the 1953 NJSIAA Group III Champions in baseball. After Manasquan, Nichols went on to a legendary coaching career, accumulating 699 girls' basketball wins — tied 27th nationally all-time — and founding the longest-running girls' high school basketball clinic in the United States, which ran for 43 consecutive years.

Vernon H. King Jr.
2015
Vernon H. King Jr. was a four-sport varsity athlete at Manasquan High School, Class of 1938, earning letters in Football, Basketball, Track, and Baseball. He threw two no-hit shutouts in 1938 and was inducted into the MHS Basketball, Baseball, and Wrestling Halls of Fame. Lt. King was killed in a U.S. Army plane training mission in March 1944.

John Rodriguez
2015
John Rodriguez was a dominant wrestler at Manasquan High School, winning Shore Conference, District, and Region championships in both his junior and senior seasons. He placed 2nd at the NJSIAA State Tournament in 1971 and 4th in 1972, compiled a 25-2 junior record and a perfect 9-0 senior mark, and earned the Spring Lake Heights Rotary Outstanding Wrestler Award.

1957 Track Team
2015
The 1957 Manasquan Track Team was coached by William Bechtloff and George Bower and featured some of the finest athletes in school history, including Paul Richard (MHS record holder in three events), Dave Lewis (MHS half mile record holder for 52 years), and Bill Robbins (2nd fastest in NJ in the 100-yard dash).

Mel Wood, Sr.
2016
Mel Wood Sr. was a multi-sport standout at Manasquan High School, Class of 1937. He earned All State recognition in both football and baseball, served as captain of the baseball and basketball teams, won the 1936 MHS Outstanding Athlete Award, and was president of the Athletic Association.

Eric Schiedt
2016
Eric Scheidt was a two-sport standout at Manasquan, Class of 1991, dominating as a defensive end (100 tackles, 24 TFL, 15 sacks in 1989) before earning 1st Team All State honors as an offensive guard in 1990. He was also a three-time Shore Conference and Monmouth County Shot Put champion in track. He went on to play college football at Duke University.

1991-1992 Football Team
2016
The 1991-1992 Manasquan Football Team repeated as champions, winning the Shore Conference Class C Championship and the Central Jersey State Championship for the second consecutive year under Head Coach Vic Kubu. The team featured future Hall of Famers David Tolan, Calvin Jones, Jax Landfried, Matt Koenig, and Bryan Price.

Laura Chowansky
2017
Laura Chowansky earned 10 Varsity Letters at Manasquan across Field Hockey, Softball, and Basketball, winning championships in all three sports. She was a 1st Team All State Group II field hockey player in 1998 and a 2nd Team All State Group II softball player in 1999, earning both the Monmouth County Academic Honor Award and the Monmouth County Sportsmanship Award.

Howard Dombroski
2018
Howard Dombroski was a three-sport varsity athlete at Manasquan High School, earning nine varsity letters in football, wrestling, and baseball. He was a member of Coach Hal Manson's legendary 1958 squad — the only team in Manasquan history to allow just 18 points in an entire season on the way to a 9-0 State and Shore Conference Championship.

Tahlia Smoke
2019
Tahlia Smoke became the first player in Manasquan High School history to win the NJSIAA Girls Singles State Championship, capping a flawless 30-0 senior season and a 110-10 career record. She went on to become the Air Force Academy's first nationally ranked Division I tennis player and a commissioned officer, winning an international military tournament MVP in England.

Jenniffer Siemaszko Collins
2009
Jenniffer Siemaszko Collins dominated two sports at Manasquan like few athletes in school history. On the basketball court, she led the Warriors to their first-ever NJSIAA Girls Basketball Championship in 1987, averaging 17.5 points and 11 rebounds per game. She set all-time MHS records in career offensive rebounds (525) and defensive rebounds (628). On the softball mound, she was just as imposing — finishing 56-6 as a four-year starter with 437 strikeouts and a 1.62 ERA, leading Manasquan to the 1987 NJSIAA Group II Softball Championship. She earned the Dorothy Emerson Award as MHS's Best Female Athlete and went on to become Lehigh University's all-time leading rebounder.

Dara Hahn VanPelt
2009
Dara Hahn VanPelt was a three-sport standout at Manasquan who excelled in basketball, soccer, and field hockey while also serving as Senior Class President and NHS member. In basketball, she was the all-time career steals leader (335) and 2nd all-time in career points (1,302), earning 2x All-State recognition and an NJSIAA Group II State Championship in 1992. In soccer, she was 2nd all-time in total points (107) and a two-time All-Shore pick. In field hockey, she won an NJSIAA Central Jersey Group II Championship. She earned the Dorothy Emerson Award as MHS's top female athlete and went on to play basketball on scholarship at Monmouth College.

Granville V. Magee
2009
Granville V. Magee arrived at Manasquan in 1937 tasked with building an athletics program — and in doing so, set a standard that reverberated for generations. As football coach, he compiled a 52-14-8 record and led the Warriors to three state championships (1939, 1946, 1947), including the first time in school history to win both the NJSIAA title and Shore Conference championship in the same season. His basketball teams went 30-8 and won the first Shore Conference Tournament title in school history. He also founded the NJ Athletic Officials Association and became the first Superintendent of Wall Township Schools.

Courteney "Skip" Whitman
2010
Courteney "Skip" Whitman was a three-sport standout who earned football All-American honors and All-State recognition in both football and baseball at Manasquan. He was a key player on the 1969 NJSIAA Group II Champions in both football and baseball, hit .491 that championship season, and earned AP All-State recognition as an offensive lineman and as a catcher. After graduation, he earned both the Airborne and Ranger tabs, served 16 years in the US Army, and — as an orthopedic surgeon attached to the 82nd Airborne during Operation Desert Storm — performed the first orthopedic surgery in a theater of war in United States Army history.

Steve Merli
2012
Steve Merli was a dominant running back for the Manasquan Warriors, Class of 1973, earning All-Shore honors in both his junior and senior seasons and being named the 1972 Shore Conference Player of the Year on a perfect 9-0 team. He went on to play college football at Eastern Kentucky University.

2014
The 1972 Manasquan Warriors went a perfect 9-0 under Coach Jack Hawkins, winning the Shore Conference Class B Championship. Running back Steve Merli earned Shore Conference Player of the Year honors, and the team was the first of back-to-back undefeated seasons — one of the most celebrated stretches in MHS football history.

Chrissy Hilla Savino
2015
Chrissy Hilla Savino was a three-sport All State athlete at Manasquan, earning 2× 1st Team All State Group II honors as a softball catcher (.515 career BA), 1st Team All State Field Hockey as goalie in 1987, and back-to-back state basketball championships in 1987 and 1988. She captained both the softball and basketball teams as a senior.

2015
The 1969 Manasquan Baseball Team compiled a 22-4 record and swept three championships: the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group III title, the Shore Conference "B" Division Championship, and the Monmouth-Ocean County Championship. The team was coached by Jack Hawkins, Anders Anderson, and Bill Ryan.

Jax Landfried
2015
Jax Landfried earned 12 varsity letters across Football, Basketball, and Baseball at Manasquan. As quarterback he was a three-time All State selection and the 1997 All Shore Offensive Player of the Year; he also accumulated over 900 career basketball points and was a multi-year All State shortstop in baseball.

Stewart Whitman
2016
Stewart Whitman was a dominant offensive lineman at Manasquan High School, Class of 1973, earning back-to-back All Shore Conference and All Monmouth County recognition. He anchored the line on the 1972-73 teams that went 18-0 across two consecutive undefeated seasons and was later named to the Asbury Park Press All Decade Team of the 1970s.

Colin Ford
2016
Colin Ford is one of the greatest lacrosse players in New Jersey history, finishing 5th all-time in career scoring with 316 points and leading the state in scoring in 2005 with 121 points. A three-time 1st Team All Shore selection, he went on to play four years of varsity lacrosse at Yale University.

Kaysonne Anderson
2016
Kaysonne Anderson set a Manasquan school record with 2,329 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns in 2002, one of only four 2,000-yard rushers in Shore Conference history. He earned 1st Team All State, All Shore Conference, All Monmouth County honors, and was named Offensive Player of the Year in both Monmouth County and the Shore Conference.

Coach Eric Scheidt
2017
Coach Eric Scheidt dedicated more than two decades to Manasquan High School athletics, building one of the Shore Conference’s most respected football programs while mentoring generations of student-athletes. Known for developing elite offensive linemen and instilling discipline, toughness, and pride in the Warriors program, Scheidt coached numerous All-Shore players and Hall of Fame athletes during his tenure. In addition to football, he also contributed as a track coach and educator, leaving a lasting impact on Manasquan athletics and the school community.

Leroy Fish
2017
LeRoy T. Fish was one of the foundational figures in Manasquan High School athletics and education. Serving the school for three decades, Fish was the school’s first Supervisor of Athletics, Principal, art educator, baseball coach, and assistant football coach. He helped establish the school’s athletic identity by introducing Manasquan’s original blue and gray color scheme, inspired by his World War I military division colors. Beyond athletics, Fish was a respected artist, educator, and community leader whose impact helped shape generations of Manasquan students and athletes.

Lenny Warwick
2017
Lenny Warwick, Class of 1970, was a standout running back who averaged 21 carries and 88 yards per game over three varsity seasons and held the Manasquan record for most carries in a season from 1969 to 1985. He was the 1969 Peter Blocksom Roetzel Award winner and a key contributor to both the 1967 Class B and 1969 undefeated Class B Championship teams.
