John Rodriguez was one of the finest wrestlers in Manasquan High School history. His junior season in 1971 saw him go 25-2 while winning the District Championship, the Region Championship, earning All Shore recognition, and placing 2nd at the NJSIAA State Tournament — the second-highest finish in the state.

Rodriguez was even more dominant the following season, going a perfect 9-0 in 1972 while adding the Shore Conference Championship to his District and Region titles. He placed 4th at the NJSIAA State Tournament and received the Spring Lake Heights Rotary Outstanding Wrestler Award. Over his junior and senior seasons combined, he won all but three matches — a record of near-perfect dominance on the mat.

2nd Place NJ State in 1971, 4th Place in 1972 — Shore Conference and Region Champion both years.
