Paul Richard was the finest track and field athlete Manasquan High School had produced in his era, setting school records in three events: the Pole Vault, Low Hurdles, and Long Jump — records that stood for years.
Richard swept the top spot in the Pole Vault and Low Hurdles at the Monmouth-Ocean County Championship, Shore Conference Championship, and Central Jersey Group III Championship in the same season. At the NJ Group III State Championships, he placed 2nd in both the Pole Vault and Low Hurdles — a remarkable achievement on the biggest stage in New Jersey high school track and field.
A three-year varsity football player as a halfback and kick returner, Richard's athleticism extended well beyond the track. After his playing days at MHS, he passed on his expertise as the Pole Vault Coach at Rutgers University, cementing a legacy that spans both competition and coaching.

MHS record holder in Pole Vault, Low Hurdles & Long Jump — later coached Pole Vault at Rutgers.
