Football

Vernon H. King Jr. was one of the most decorated multi-sport athletes in Manasquan High School history, earning varsity letters in Football, Basketball, Track, and Baseball — all four years in each. His accomplishments earned him induction into the MHS Basketball Hall of Fame, Baseball Hall of Fame, and Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1938.

On the mound, King was exceptional, throwing two no-hit shutouts in 1938 — a mark that remains tied for first all-time in Manasquan history alongside Mike Mahady and Mark Lockenmeyer.

After graduation, King served his country in the United States Army. Lieutenant Vernon H. King Jr. was killed in an army plane training mission in March 1944 — making him one of the Warriors who gave the ultimate sacrifice. His induction into the Hall of Fame honors not only his athletic legacy but his courage and service to his country.
