Football
David Lewis was a two-sport standout at Manasquan High School whose impact on the track program lasted more than half a century. His half mile record stood for 52 years — one of the longest-standing individual records in school history — a testament to his exceptional talent and speed.
Lewis swept the top spot in the half mile at the Monmouth-Ocean County Championship, Shore Conference Championship, and Central Jersey Championship in 1957, also placing 2nd in the Penn Relays 4×440. He repeated as a championship-level runner in 1958, anchoring teams that won all three major regional meets.
On the football field, Lewis earned All Shore Conference recognition from the Asbury Park Press and was part of the legendary 1958 MHS football team that went 9-0, won the NJSIAA Group II State Championship, and allowed only 18 points all season — the all-time Manasquan defensive record.

MHS Half Mile Record Holder for 52 years — and part of the 1958 undefeated State Champions.
