Matt Koenig

Matt Koenig was a standout three-sport athlete at Manasquan High School, earning 8 varsity letters in baseball, football, and basketball. In baseball, he was a three-year starting pitcher and first baseman who earned Star Ledger All State Group II, APP All Shore 2nd Team, and Star Ledger All Monmouth County recognition in 1991. He won the Vernon King Baseball Award and was selected to the All State Classic Game.

On the football field, Koenig was a versatile two-year starter at multiple positions, earning APP All Shore 1st Team as a punter in 1990. He was a key contributor to an undefeated 11-0 CJ Group II State Championship football team that also captured the Class C South Conference title. He won the William Osborn Football Award and was selected to the All Shore Classic Game.

Koenig received the Athletic Director's Sportsmanship Award in 1991, recognizing not just his talent but the character he brought to every sport he played.
