Matt Maddox

Matt Maddox was the anchor of the offensive and defensive line for one of the most dominant stretches in Manasquan football history — three consecutive NJ State Championship teams from 1999 to 2001 that compiled a 34-2 record. His lead blocking helped set the school record for rushing yards, and on defense he recorded 15 career sacks, 35 tackles for loss, and 5 forced fumbles.

As a junior in 2000, Maddox won the prestigious Lombardi Award and earned multiple All-State and All-Shore honors. His senior season in 2001 brought 1st Team All-State OL, All-State Group 2 OL, 1st Team All-Shore, All-Monmouth, and NJ Super 100 recognition, along with a spot in the NJ vs. NY All Star Game.

Maddox earned a full athletic scholarship to the University of Illinois, where he started 46 consecutive games, earned 1st Team Freshman All-American honors, was named to the All-Big Ten team, and won the Offensive Lineman of the Year award twice while serving as a two-year team captain. In 2007, the New York Giants signed Maddox, fulfilling the ultimate professional dream for a Warrior from Manasquan.
