Michael Mele

Michael Mele rewrote the Manasquan High School record books as a two-way force on the football field. On offense, he set records for career rushing yards (4,190), career touchdowns (56), career points (336), single-season touchdowns (30), and single-season points (186) — marks that stand as the pinnacle of MHS football achievement.

On defense, Mele was equally dominant as a linebacker, earning the 2006 NJ Sporting News Defensive Player of the Year award, AP 1st Team All-State All-Groups, Star-Ledger 1st Team All-State, and Asbury Park Press 1st Team All-Shore recognition in both 2005 and 2006.

Mele's extraordinary two-way performance earned him the 2006 Peter Blocksom Roetzel Hall of Fame MVP and was recognized by MSG as High School Heisman All Metro Team. He went on to play Division I football at Syracuse University, leaving Manasquan as arguably the most decorated football player in school history.
