Rick Trimble

Rick Trimble's impact on Manasquan athletics extends far beyond wins and losses. Throughout his career, he served as a coach, mentor, fundraiser, program builder, and advocate for student-athletes across multiple sports.

Trimble is most widely recognized as the founder and architect of the Manasquan Ice Hockey program. After years of organizing, fundraising, and advocating for the sport, he helped establish the Manasquan Ice Hockey Club in 1972. At a time when hockey was not recognized by the NJSIAA as a varsity sport, Trimble built the program from the ground up, creating opportunities for local athletes to compete at a high level. Over the next two decades, he coached youth, high school, and adult teams while continually expanding opportunities for hockey players throughout the community.

Under his leadership, Manasquan hockey captured multiple league championships and became one of the Shore area's most respected programs. His varsity teams won five consecutive league championships from 1990 through 1995 while compiling an outstanding record of 98 wins, 21 losses, and 5 ties. When Manasquan finally achieved varsity status, Trimble served as the school's first varsity head coach.

Beyond hockey, Trimble devoted countless hours to Manasquan football, baseball, and strength training programs. He coached freshman football and baseball, developed youth athletes throughout the sending districts, created the Manasquan High School weight room, implemented sport-specific strength programs, and ran the school's weightlifting club.

Perhaps most impressive was his willingness to volunteer his time. For many years, Trimble operated programs with little or no financial support, raising funds, collecting equipment, organizing camps, and ensuring athletes had opportunities to participate. His commitment helped build a lasting athletic culture that continues to benefit Manasquan student-athletes today.
